moments of expression, voicing emotions
Deeply personal stories and songs from 600 years of composers and songwriters, from Gesualdo to Coldplay.
In times of uncertainty and confusion, music brings tremendous comfort, connection and catharsis.
The words and music that have flowed from poets and songwriters in times of overflowing emotion, can speak across barriers of time and place. Whether in the texts of 17th and 18th -Century part songs, or in the late-20th songs of Trent Reznor or Billy Joel, words and music can capture and reflect emotions that we can all recognize or experience.
“Human heart” will offer universal emotions that have inspired poets and songwriters for centuries: romantic love, loss, fear, contentment, and joy. The program will also reflect more contemporary topics, such as mental wellness and the development of technology.
