Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - In Concert
Chronos Vocal Ensemble is providing a 100-voice choir for productions of The Two Towers in Calgary and Edmonton, on Aug 28-29 and Sep 11-12 respectively.
This is a presentation of the full-length film with live soundtrack provided by full orchestra, choir, children’s choir, and soloists.
Status November 24: We have now assembled most of our choir, but have room for 5-10 more singers in total, across voice parts. Additional ALTOS in particular would be appreciated.

Key details:
- Choir rehearsals begin December 6. See schedule below.
- Three Calgary shows are January 2-3, including daytime travel to Calgary on Friday January 2.
- Three Edmonton shows are January 9-10, including an afternoon sound-check on Friday January 9.
- Scores are available now. Audio reference tracks are provided for preparation.

Fri Jan 2: ~8 AM bus departure for Calgary. 2 pm rehearsal, 7:30 pm show
Sat Jan 3: YYC concerts at 1 PM and 7:00 PM, bus departs Calgary for Edmonton ca 10:45 PM
Fri Jan 9: YEG 4 PM sound check, 7:30 show
Sat Jan 10: YEG concerts at 1 PM and 7:00 PM
Expectations and other key information:
- All singers are expected to participate in all performances.
- Singers are required to use paper scores.
- There is no direct cost to the individual singer for this project.
- Transportation to and from Calgary, hotel accommodations (double occupancy), and light supper on two days in Calgary are provided.
- Any additional expenses incurred (e.g. other meals, parking) are your own.
- Singers have the option to arrange their own transportation/accommodations for Calgary, at their expense.
- Calgary Hotel is the Sandman Signature Downtown. Bus departure location from Edmonton is TBA.

- We will follow up with all those who submit via the form, as long as the form is accepting responses. We will update THIS page to indicate, e.g., if all places are filled for particular voice-parts.
- Age: This opportunity is for adult singers.
- Participation: All singers are expected to participate in all performances.
- Score difficulty: If you sing in choir, have some confidence reading music, and the capacity to support your learning through self-study of the score, you should be comfortable with the difficultly level. If you learn choral music primarily by listening, this may not be the right project for you.
- Preparation resources: Scores and audio reference recordings will be provided. “Practice Tracks” by voice part are not available.
- Concert Dress: Formal black. Men’s shirts must have a collar.
