Concert dress guidelines

Concert dress guidelines will be announced, and possibilities include formal black, casual black, or black+white. Below is the standard for all-black formal which Chronos has implemented for all self-produced concerts since fall 2021.

All-black formal dress (updated 2023)

Guideline: all-black, formal and professional dress. The goal is to uphold an image of professionalism and formality represented by the “men” guideline below, while increasing gender-neutrality and providing multiple options for women, providing clarity for wardrobe-planning and assuring confident stage presentation for the full ensemble. Questions and critiques are welcome.

Men: Please wear black suit with standard-length jacket, BLACK collared shirt, black long tie. Suit, not tuxedo please (no satin lapels, or stripe on pants).

Women/Gender neutral guidelineAll-black, formal and professional. Black pants/top combo OR Black skirt/top combo OR Black dress.

Further guidelines:

  • Collared shirts worn with pants, and styled for wear with a tie, should be worn with a tie and jacket, all black.
  • For other shirt/top styles, min. 3/4 sleeve length. Sheer OK.
  • Skirt/Dress guidelines: Full length or ankle-length, with black stockings or socks.
For all:
  • Black dress shoes and socks/stockings for everyone.
  • Refrain from fragrances.
  • As able, style hair so as not to hide face in profile.
  • No text, logos, icons, or symbols please.

Health Protocols

UPDATED FEBRUARY, 2022:

 1. Fully-vaccinated status is required for in-person singing activities. We will record that proof has been presented and not retain any health information on file.

2. Please do not attend if you have “new onset or worsening” of the symptoms described on page 2 here. You may return again when symptoms have subsided, with exceptions:
  • if you are awaiting test results, please await your negative result before returning.
  • if those symptoms included fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat or loss of sense of taste or smell we ask that you have performed a rapid test with a negative result.
3. If you have tested positive for COVID, you may return when you are asymptomatic, have tested negative, and past at least 5 days from the onset of symptoms. (February 2022: We lengthened this to 10 days as our rehearsal run began. TBD for April-May.)

4. Fully-vaccinated individuals who are close contacts of a positive COVID case are not required by government regulations to isolate. However, for risk mitigation we ask that household close contacts of a confirmed case do not attend for a period of 5 days following the contact, and that those with a symptomatic person in their household ensure that person has a negative rapid test result before attending. We also ask that if you have any close contact with someone with symptoms under #2 above, you have personally taken a rapid test with a negative result before attending.

5. Please follow directions in rehearsal and performance concerning safety precautions, including distancing. These continue to be fluid, and will be developed in consultation with the choir.

If you have questions about the details on any of the above, or want to discuss your personal situation, please email/call/text Jordan at any time.

For everyone who has completed a membership form, you have agreed to comply with Chronos’ COVID-19 policies. Between that agreement and the presentation of proof-of-vaccination (once!), we will be able to eliminate the need for the sign-in and health declaration at each rehearsal.

The protocols outlined here are for the choir specifically; please refer members of the public attending concerts to our COVID-19 Protocols page with FAQs.
