Vocal Alchemy continues its 2024-2025 Season with Breath of Life on Saturday March 1. The program features Dan Forrest’s new work The Breath of Life, presented with orchestra and Chronos Vocal Ensemble!

The Breath of Life is Dan Forrest’s evocative reflection on breath, representing life, spirit, and the spark of the divine in humanity. Written for choir and an orchestra including strings, piano, organ, percussion and electronics, this large work features both contemporary poetry and scriptural text.

Vocal Alchemy again welcomes Chronos Vocal Ensemble, who have joined VA for major performances with orchestra for a decade. The two choirs have performed Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living together twice: Before the pandemic (pictured below) and again for VA’s 20th Anniversary at the Winspear in 2022. Our audiences have been deeply affected by the choirs’ performances of the composer’s music.

The program also features music of Ola Gjeilo, and multiple Canadian composers including John Estacio, Edward Enman and Matthew Emery.

You can find the event on Facebook, or visit the Vocal Alchemy website
