This past fall, we had a period of just two months where we could sing together, indoors and in person with careful precautions. Besides rehearsing for our outdoor performances, virtual recordings, and performances planned for 2021, we were able to make this single live recording, featuring our rehearsal of “There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ēriks Ešenvalds, on a text by Sara Teasdale.

This piece was to be featured on our cancelled April 2020 Concert, and its text took on additional meaning this November as we wore masks and observed precautions to keep each other safe: “Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree, If mankind perished utterly…”

Looking back at what feels now like a parallel universe, Chronos Vocal Ensemble’s 2019 – 2020 season started off like any other year, with an in-person concert and high hopes. For a reminder of how things were not so long ago, and how we hope they’ll be again soon, also check out our performance of Hussein Janmohamed’s Sun on Water from our season-opening concert, Wondrous and Terrible.

Take care of each other, and be well.
