The combined sounds of these two fine, award-winning ensembles in this long-awaited collaboration will enthrall our audiences. These two ensembles first joined together in a Calgary performance in 2015; we are delighted to return the invitation. Spiritus boasts a legacy of nearly 30 years of choral excellence, and was one of the exemplary Canadian choral organizations that inspired the founding of Chronos a decade ago.
Both recipients of the Healey Willan Grand Prize, Chronos and Spiritus are dedicated to cherishing classical favourites and pioneering new Canadian works. Their wealth of experience and musical artistry will bring you Josef Rheinberger’s opulent masterpiece, Mass in E-Flat for Double Choir.
This concert celebrates not only the beauty of music but also the power of community and connection. Together, we create an enchanting tapestry of voices, weaving intricate harmonies that stir the very essence of the soul. Join us for this extraordinary musical experience, where voices unite, fostering a profound sense of togetherness and shared artistry.
This program will feature a great variety of unaccompanied choral works presented by the two choirs separately and together; in addition to Rheinberger, you will hear the music of Eric Whitacre, Gustav Mahler, Andrew Balfour, Stuart Beatch, Katerina Gimon, and more.
